Checklist
This is a bomber-checklist for scenarios
Actually this list is not complete - in the next days further infos will be added.
Pre-Flight preparations
All bombers should switch to the metric system - so climbing/diving orders could be understand and performed by all.
All bombers should activate showdata and showhits. " .showdata" " .showhits" These HUD-datas will allow exact flying, course setting and climbings.
All bombers should have downloaded the bomb-maps. Click here to get to the download section for maps: WB-MAPS
All bombers should set their ottos with the following datas: " .otto b- 0", " .otto b++ 4", " .otto b+ 4", " .otto rt 0,01", " .otto rg d11" These settings gives the otto an extreme aggressive behavior. He will shoot as long as possible on targets. The disadvantage of this settings is the very high ammo reduction. But tests have shown that these ottos are able to kill or cripple enemy fighters effectivly and a bomber with a ripped off wing because of a calmer set otto has no advantage that his otto still have ammo.
Radio channels
Every bomber-subunit builds its own squad. So they get a squadchannel 110, which cant be read by (and don´t disturbs) others.
All bombers get a second radio-frequency which could be read by bombers. (In example below ch 33)
The third frequency is GOLD main channel 103.
The forth frequency is for private chat.
Forming of subunits
When subunits are built, the General-CO should form units
who has been fighting together before.
who speak and understand the same language.
Before the start
The CO informs the squad
about the climbspeed, which has to be set by all bombers. " .speed 120" for a climbspeed = cs of 120.
about the plane [Example: F5, Ju88, 500+50, 40%]
about fuel% [Example: F5, Ju88, 500+50, 40%]
about bombload [Example: F5, Ju88, 500+50, 40%]
about the startfield [Example: F5, Ju88, 500+50, 40%]
about the runway which will be taken for start. The CO has to choose the optimal start-direction and runway, so there have not to be hard turns after the start. [Example: roll to N end on runway C]
that all bombers who have not succesfully started or whose landing gear have been stuck because of overspeed should report immedeately so he can calculate these losses for his operation and report to higher command in case of the necessity of new orders. (Bombers who crashed are out. Those who have stuck gear and landed are ordered to start as fast as possible and will be guided to formation by CO.)
course by mentioning the degrees-number (for example: 090 instead of E or East).
Going otr
After that pre-flight-briefing all bombers get the order from the CO to go otr and roll to the designed runway.
Then the bombers deactivate their engines and wait for GO-order.
Start
The CO makes a last check, informs again which course will be taken after start - then makes the countdown.
Example:
"Activate your engines"
"090 after start, GO at 3"
"1"
"2"
"3"
Keeping formation
In order to keep formation the leading plane goes to level and reduces its speed. All other planes which reach the leading plane also reduce their speed.
When all planes are together in the fighting formation - all planes go back to 100 at level and after their TAS is the same they activate their climbspeed.
Again the CO always gives orders by countdown:
"Activate climbspeed at 3"
"1"
"2"
"3"
Changing course
Turns have to be made soft and not apruptly. Especially the He177 and G4M are not able to perform hard maneuvers without the risk to cripple themself. The Ju88 is a very stable plane but here also the pilots have to avoid unneccessary risks of damaging or loosing the plane. Remember: In scenarios everyone has only 1 life.
Example for a course-change to South (180):
"Turn to 180 at 3"
"1"
"2"
"3"
Junkers Ju88A4: Secure bombs
The heavy bombs of the Junkers Ju88 are transported under the wings. By touching "B" these bombs are relased. To avoid that this happens before reaching the target it is better to switch to the 50kg-bombs. These bombs are in bombbay and will not be released until the bombbay has been opened (O).
This will allow the bomber pilot to avoid an accidental drop by touching B during the flight to the target area.
